Thunderstorms roam
the unbroken cornfields
like predators
I cheated today. I took the opening stanza from a longer poem of mine called Folktales and kneaded it into a haiku. All that just to announce that the full poem has been published over at the inestimable Lothlorien Poetry Journal. All my thanks to Strider Marcus Jones, the editor there.)

Bartholomew Barker is an organizer of Living Poetry, a collection of poets in the Triangle region of North Carolina where he has hosted a monthly feedback workshop for more than decade. I don’t think you cheated. It’s more like recycling and repurposing. I like this Haiku and I really like the source poem. Congratulations
