Ghost Owl Face

I am very proud to announce that one of my haiku has been published over at Pure Haiku as part of their Ghost Owl Face series. All the haiku appearing there recently were inspired by the image above by Kerfe Roig. I hope you’ll not just read my contribution but follow Pure Haiku to stay up to date on them all.

I shared this call for submissions with Calista, a good friend of mine who’s also skilled at haiku. She had an untimely technology failure and missed the deadline so I’m presenting her haiku here since I think it’s better than mine.

Nightfall wisdom flies
Silence strikes without warning
“Why?” she asks, and “Who!?”

Bartholomew Barker is an organizer of Living Poetry, a collection of poets in the Triangle region of North Carolina where he has hosted a monthly feedback workshop for more than decade. His first poetry collection, Wednesday Night Regular, written in and about strip clubs, was published in 2013. His second, Milkshakes and Chilidogs, a chapbook of food inspired poetry was served in 2017. He was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2021. Born and raised in Ohio, studied in Chicago, he worked in Connecticut for nearly twenty years before moving to Hillsborough where he lives and writes poetry.
