I’ve seen the rings of Saturn
and the moons of Jupiter
but not up close.
I’ve seen the clouds of Venus
and the red sands of Mars
but only through my telescope.
Bored with merely gazing I want
to hop an interplanetary shuttle
and just go. You can come along.
Like you, I’ve never touched
their skin nor smelled their breath;
I’ve only peeped in through windows.
But I suppose this fantasy requires
introducing myself.
Write a poem inspired by the concept of wanderlust and adventure.

Dear Bartholomew and Ivor,
Off we go in a spaceship or UFO 🛸. . . . . You are very welcome to take an intergalactic trip with me, as described by my Flying Away One Day as a “Stranger from Milky Way” in a very special post containing my two lyrics/poems, plus lots of animations, which are best seen on a desktop or laptop computer. Entitled “One Day We’ll Fly Away“, this post is available at
We spent years accumulating knowledge and wisdom only to see our corporeal form disintegrating in mere decades. This sentiment or lament plus the longing for true transcendence are acutely expressed in the two poems in my said post.
May you have a great time enjoying my two special offerings to you!
Yours sincerely,
SoundEagle

Dear Ivor,
You are very welcome. Thank you for your feedback. There are actually two poems there, and they will look much better on the large screen of a desktop or laptop computer.
I would be very delighted if you could kindly leave your comment in my said post as a token of your visit. You could simply copy and paste your previous reply to my earlier comment as part of your forthcoming comment to be submitted to the comment section of the post, to which your said reply clearly pertains and also belongs. Please feel free to expand on your comment if you have additional matters to convey about the expansive post and any salient aspects of its contents. Thank you in anticipation.
Happy mid-April to you!
Yours sincerely,

I ponder that sometimes – we accumulate all this knowledge and information – then we die and it would appear to be lost. In my way of seeing, life is a continuum, so we don’t die – but – we don’t remember all we’ve learnt, not consciously anyway. Though, if we did – that could be too much to take – just accumulating and accumulating. Food for thought.

Dear Bartholomew,
Will you be able to pick me up in a sumptuous spaceship like this?
Thank you in anticipation.

Sorry, mine will be a little more rickety. I’m building it in my spare time.

The beginning reminds me of Roy’s last speech in ‘Bladerunner’. And of this…

No, at least I’ve never spied her drinking wine.

What if a future you found your writings – I wonder would you remember/recognize yourself?

Ha! Probably not. But if my words were still being read, I’d be fine with it.

I suggest you meet up with Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk. You might have a chance to smell an alien’s breath. ;)

For a sec, I thought you were implying that they were the aliens.
