Bone

Our connection
is thicker than blood
stronger than muscle

Our bond is like bone
flexible and resilient
made of the earth

A honeycomb of winks
and slow caresses
and if it breaks

it hurts worse
than any gut-punch
or cigarette burn

and takes months
to heal

(For today’s prompt, write a connection poem.)

    Ain’t that the truth.

For ‘months’ – read ‘years’- decades.

Those we care about can hurt us – those we don’t care about – well – they can’t – because we don’t – do we?
