15 Last Minute Gift Ideas for Old Bohemian Poets

Nothing

They don’t want any more crap
cluttering their rented rooms
unless it can be burned
for heat under a hungry moon.

If you insist: Wine

Leave the bottle at their doorstep,
ring the bell, run away, no card,
no note, just take satisfaction knowing
the alcohol ran through their heart.

Best: an Epigram

Dedicate a poem to them. Make it cryptic,
one they did not inspire, unrelated
to their work, life or affectations.
And if they notice, they’ll be elated.

This is a fun one. Now write a listicle of what to get a curmudgeon poet so I can ignore it. :) <3

The image of a “hungry moon” works so well. Every moon is hungry when you’re an old Bohemian poet.

Mike wrote this, this morning. Then I read your blog post….asked is it OK with him if I send it to you …he said yes….Solstice Greetings from The Bells!

    Gravity

    Pilgrim soul,
    Attracted, yet outside the horizon
    Of othersโ€™ myths, certainties.
    Outside the community of Faith,
Is what remains, the terrifying responsibility
    Of interstellar space?

But Silence lives, and Light fills.
And at the centre of all Being?
    Love:
    It Is.
