The Discovery of The Future

I’ve dealt the cards
rolled the bones
read the leaves
from my morning tea
memorized Nostradamus
(so tired of his quatrains)
picked over scripture
looking for hidden ciphers
calculated my own birth chart
with 21st century precision
yet by the time
I predict the future
it’s already past
