Blue Magick 2020

Blue Magick

I call upon the spirits of light,
the angels of constitutional democracy,
of reasonable policy based upon science,
I humbly beseech you: Arise!

Cast out the demons of fear and corruption.
Break the curse of dark money, lies and hatred.
Free us from willful ignorance so we may cast
our votes as a spell upon the government.

Let us attend the sacred polling place,
dance naked ’round the voting booth,
sing songs of truth and good governance
that we may restore our fair country,

sliding my ballot into the holy box,
the Great Rite of Democracy.

I’m tired of writing political poems so I’m re-posting one from the 2018 election. It also appeared in Oddball Magazine about a week after I first posted it here.

Speaking of recent publications. One of my poems was recently reprinted at Ephemeral Elegies. Check it out. They publish lots of good work.

Here’s to a decisive election, no further Republican shenanigans or Supreme Court coups.

  1. I hope this important election will free the US of the monster that has invaded from TV land, taking ordinary folk and others to nasty grasping notions of greed without need, and hatred with no due cause … may there be blessings from all, and may the world relax, at least a little, that this madness has been halted.
