Zombies are everywhere,
on television, in movies,
video games and literary
mash-ups.
I see them every day.
I see one every morning
in the mirror.
I am a zombie,
unthinking,
binge watching,
web surfing,
live tweeting,
over entertained,
under engaged.
I crave brains
because mine has atrophied.
I should trash my television,
crash my computer,
smash my smartphone.
Disconnect from the corporate
collective consumer unconscious.
It’s time to unplug the earbuds,
put down the screen,
pick up a book,
meet my neighbors
and wake the hell—
No! Wake the world
up!
The Democratic Presidential primaries begin soon. If you agree with the sentiments in the poem above, I sincerely hope you’ll consider supporting Bernie Sanders, like I do.
Is it wrong to say my favorite part of this poem is the way you break the final lines? :-)

I’m glad you liked that. I wasn’t sure how well that would translate to the page.
