Survivor Anger Published at Edge of Humanity

I am proud to announce that Edge of Humanity Magazine has published a new poem of mine, Survivor Anger. I strongly encourage all my readers check it out and follow their excellent site.

Here’s the first stanza of six, to pique your interest:

Standing amid the smoldering wreckage
of my life with just a few scratches
I wonder how I got so lucky…

Bartholomew Barker is one of the organizers of Living Poetry, a collection of poets and poetry lovers in the Triangle region of North Carolina. Born and raised in Ohio, studied in Chicago, he worked in Connecticut for nearly twenty years before moving to Hillsborough where he makes money as a computer programmer to fund his poetry habit.

    That definitely looks like the Alaskan Earthquake that hit Valdez and drove all the fishing boats up on the land. I was in Alaska then so this really hits home for me.

    I went to the ‘Edge of Humanity’ (the irony isn’t lost on me).

    Bart. – you’ve done it again – caught so much, in a short poem.

    I used to try to see and tell myself that it was all for a reason – I stopped doing that – and just get on with it. It is for a reason – that reason being – life, living, learning. Not for a ‘whole scheme of things’ kind of reason – or, I don’t think so.

    I would have ‘Just get on with it’ on my headstone, but I don’t intend to have a headstone – ashes scattered on a cliff-top – no lectures – my lecturing will be over.
