I’m lucky I got a little lost in Alexandria and found this statue otherwise I wouldn’t have know that history either.

When observed over centuries, we have definitely come a long way but that’s little comfort to those still enslaved.

The more I think about this, the more I see how very clever it is. A pearl – a thing of value – entrapped – then freed.
And all in a few words, with the magic of the Internet lifting us from one of the words onto the ship of freedom.
