For today’s prompt, write a touch poem.
An Empty Bottle of Wine
There’s always one more drop
after pouring the final glass
from a bottle smooth and heavy
still chilled from the fridge
as I turn it upside down
over my eager mouth
I don’t want to waste an ounce
not even a milliliter of this precious
liquid so I hold still and wait
It’s lip cold and hard
against mine chapped
in this pathetic kiss
How long can I stand here
craned neck — tongue poised
to collect the last droplets
creeping down the inner surface
before I tip from vinophile
to alcoholic
Lovely on the edge poem. “vinophile” nice one! My advice, get two bottles. Why torture yourself? You have to fall off the edge to know you were on it once, you’ve got to look up from the bottom to pay your poetic dues. I don’t mean to give you a push into the full monty of misery, I’m just saying. I would never get just one bottle of wine. But that’s me. I’m an extremist, a voluptuary. Elizabeth Taylor was a Goddess!! With some very big Diamonds!! A person should have a cellar full of wine. A vinophile would, I’m pretty sure. But one day at a time. LOL! Just teasing. Nice poem. I enjoyed it.

Thanks. And, of course, I have plenty more wine in the house. I just don’t want to leave a bottle undry.

Thanks! It wasn’t until I started writing this that I noticed how many body parts I share with a bottle.
