The Taste of my Own Medicine

I was able to combine three prompts into one poem.

For today’s prompt, write a taste poem.

Weekend Writing Prompt #254 — Yodel.

NaPoWriMo Day Ten, a love poem.

The Taste of my Own Medicine

I’ve chewed the bitter pill— Lipitor’s awful
but not as bad as testing the smoke detector battery
with my pink flesh completing the circuit,
leaving metallic electricity.

My mother would wash my mouth out with soap,
my wife left strawberry wax and cigarettes on my lips,
but for love, nothing tastes like Swiss Cake Rolls
except Yodels.
