Spirit of Easter

For today’s prompt, write a spirit poem.

Trigger warning: this poem is probably blasphemous but it’ll be pretty far down the list of my mortal sins so enjoy!

Spirit of Easter

Jesus screwed up the Resurrection.
He was supposed to emerge triumphant
when the stone was rolled away Easter morn.

Crucified on Good Friday,
He had the whole next day
to repair His body—
probably finished mid-afternoon.

So Jesus spent Saturday night
partying with the hookers
and tax collectors,
reverse transubstantiated wine
flowing from his stigmata.

The tomb was empty
because He was sleeping
it off at Mary’s.
