Let Freedom Ring

IhaveadreamMarinesNone of the prompts today inspired so I wrote about something else.

Let Freedom Ring

He fought for our freedom
unlike the young men
drafted to Vietnam
or any who have volunteered
since for Afghanistan or Iraq.

He fought for our freedom
not just for the oppressed
by unjust laws but their oppressors
so they might shed their burden
of hatred and rest forgiven.

He fought for our freedom,
he and millions of others marching
or refusing to be moved,
demanding that our country
live up to its good words
that all men are created equal.
