The Holly Springs workshop Saturday went very well. We had twelve participants and I was impressed that everyone was willing to share poems they’d written in under five minutes mere moments before.
For my random prompt, I rolled a 12-sided die and told everyone to write about the associated ordinal month. The die offered up a 7 so here’s what I wrote:
In February I park in the middle of the lot,
point my car south and upon my return
pop into a little oven which thaws
my freezer burnt joints.
In July I find the shade,
no matter how far from the door,
crack windows just enough for the heat
to escape but not so much that my car
escapes in the possession of another.
In July I try to store that warmth
for use in February.
