Earlier today I indulged my bibliophilia and visited the Chapel Hill Public Library book sale, taking home a nice haul of titles for a mere $12.50.
I picked out three modern poetry anthologies because they were from three different generations, one from 1973, another from 1938 and the third from 1919! I love that the oldest starts with Emily Dickinson, who had only been dead 33 years when it was published yet still includes some e. e. cummings from when he was just in his twenties.
But I think the book I’ll dig into first is “Remembering Poets” by Donald Hall, 1978. I enjoy Mr. Hall’s poetry, especially “Without”, the heartbreaking book he published after his wife and fellow poet Jane Kenyon died, but this book ended up in my arms because it’s supposed to be reminiscences and opinions of Ezra Pound, Dylan Thomas, T. S. Eliot and Robert Frost.
Now I just need all my poet friends to get famous so I can write a tell all book about them.
Hello,
Did you happen do the poetry postcard project?
Because if you did, I enjoyed your poetry, and I just wanted to let you know.

We don’t need to be famous for you to write a book about us. You on the other hand … your life is a tell all book waiting to be written.

I trust you’ve been taking notes then. Feel free to exaggerate. I certainly do.
