Gather’s Poets Cafe

Gather photo by Tara Lynne GrothLast night was my first trip to Gather and the Poets Cafe, in downtown Cary. Gather is a lovely little coffee shop and it was packed with poetry. Since I spend my day job sitting, I chose to stand in the back and enjoy the show from there. The best performance of the night came from my fellow Living Poetry organizer and Double Life poet, Pamela Taylor, whose poetry and delivery were both exceptional.

I would encourage any new poets who want to give open mics a try to make this their first stop. The venue is intimate and the audience primarily other poets who remember what it was like their first time behind the microphone.

Not sure which open mic will be my next but advance warning will be provided here.

  1. Finally able to read through your posts. Thanks for the shout out. That Gather standing-room only reading was great all around. Can’t believe it’s been almost a month since that event.
