It had been too long since reading at an open mic so I thought I’d try the one held at the Central Greensboro Public Library on third Mondays. I’d never driven out to Greensboro for poetry before but when I noticed that it was as close to me as Raleigh, I decided to give it a try and I’m glad I did. Not only did I get to meet Alfred, the organizer of the Triad Poetry Meetup, but I also got to read my three Brazil poems to a gracious audience of over 20 people. The other poets did a mix of their own work and some cover poems. I especially enjoyed Miss Jean reading Maya Angelou in Jamaican Patois.
The Central Library is gorgeous, by the way. They have this lovely sculpture in the atrium that I think looks like a dolmen.
Next open mic: Thursday July 31st at Gather in Cary.
We would have surprised each other if I made it out there! I’ve had that in my calendar for some time and only skipped tonight because I ended up working straight past 7 this evening. Will check it out another month!

Probably best you didn’t go last night. We don’t want Alfred to think Living Poetry is to taking over. It is well worth the trip though.
